Family farms feed their communities while working on the thinnest margins in the economy. Green Acres Farm Support helps small and mid-sized operations invest in the things that pay off over seasons, not weeks: cold storage, irrigation, fencing, soil testing, cover-crop seed, season-extension tunnels, farmers-market setups, and value-added equipment like wash stations and commercial kitchens. Preference goes to farms adopting regenerative and water-wise practices, because healthy soil is a farm's retirement account. Recipients also receive a free whole-farm planning session with an agronomist and entry to a buyer network of schools, grocers, and restaurants seeking local produce. The fund honors the truth that saving a family farm saves the jobs, food access, and open land around it.

Eligibility requirements — read before applying

Family or independently owned farm operating for at least 2 years
Under 100 acres in production or annual revenue under $500,000
Farm located in the United States with proof of operation (tax or FSA records)
A one-page plan for the funded improvement and its expected benefit
Priority for regenerative, organic-transition, and water-conserving practices
One award per farm per year

How to apply

1. Create your Grant Well account and select Green Acres Farm Support.
2. Upload proof of farm operation: Schedule F, FSA records, or market licenses.
3. Submit your one-page improvement plan with an itemized cost list and two supplier quotes.
4. Include 3–5 photos of your operation and the area to be improved.
5. A regional reviewer may schedule a farm visit or video walkthrough.
6. Funds disburse before planting or build season; a short completion report closes the award.
